Cub Challenge Awards

The Challenge Awards encourage Cubs to take part in a balanced and adventurous programme. There are seven Challenge Awards, and completing all of them — along with six Activity Badges — earns the Chief Scout’s Silver Award.

These badges are hexagonal and worn on the front of the jumper.

The Seven Challenge Awards

The Challenge Badges are:

  • Our World Challenge Award

  • Our Skills Challenge Award

  • Our Outdoors Challenge Award

  • Our Adventure Challenge Award

  • Teamwork Challenge Award

  • Team Leader Challenge Award

  • Personal Challenge Award

Each Challenge Award brings new experiences and helps Cubs build skills such as teamwork, resilience, independence, creativity, and outdoor confidence.

What Challenge Awards Involve

Challenge Awards are designed to be completed through:

  • Weekly meetings

  • Pack nights and team activities

  • Camps and hikes

  • Community projects

  • Personal challenges at home (especially the Personal Challenge Award)

Some challenge activities naturally link with Activity Badges — for example:

  • Local Knowledge + Our World Challenge

  • Environmental Conservation + Our World Challenge

  • Photography + Our Outdoors Challenge

Chief Scout’s Silver Award

This is the top award a Cub can earn.
To complete it, a Cub must:

  • Earn all seven Challenge Awards

  • Earn six Activity Badges of their choice

  • Show dedication, teamwork and effort over their time in Cubs
